One of the most pressing issues in our beloved college town of Eugene, OR is homelessness. Students witness the severe conditions the homeless population endures on a daily basis. Most blocks around campus are occupied by groups of less fortunate people who have no where to turn. More often than not, there isn’t anyone helping the less fortunate in our area.
Sunday, March 3rd, the men of SigEp joined together to make a difference in our community. Our philanthropy chair, Mason Maier, led a group of brothers around Eugene with hot slices of pizza and clean socks for the homeless. Each person we encountered was given a brand new pair of socks and a hot slice of pizza. The smiles, handshakes, and gratitude we received in return made our day. For us, giving back to our community means consistently donating our time to improving the lives of others. After all, one simple act of kindness causes an endless ripple.
